The prerequisites for the formation of the gold-mining cluster in South Yakutia

Currently, South Yakutia is mining about half of gold of the Republic. There are over 60% of gold reserves of the Republic in its territory. The article, on the basis of the analysis of activity of the major gold mining enterprises of the region, studies the possibility of forming the South Yakut gold mining cluster. An association of several companies would help to achieve high competitiveness on the basis of joint innovation, increasing productivity, synergies. In recent years, the world gold mining industry focuses on the development of high-efficiency ore deposits. The article identifies the conditions for the establishment of a sectoral regional cluster, provides a methodological approach to its creation, based on the assessment of the development of the industry and its importance in the economy of the region. The gold mining cluster formation in South Yakutia would enhance the investment attractiveness of the region, the employment of the population, the level of human resource capacity, would increase tax revenues in the budget that ultimately would improve the quality of life and standard of living of the population.
