Importance The major objective of economic reforms in Russia is to create an innovation-based market economy. Innovation activity of any business bases primarily on the intellectual and creative potential of not only its employees but also the entire society. Crowdsourcing is a new technology for the domestic market. It enables to unlock the said potential. However, it is necessary that the use of crowdsourcing be well-considered, estimated in advance, and yield benefits for all participants of economic relations.
Objectivs In this articles I consider the possibility of evaluating the effectiveness of crowdsourcing in an organization. I define the essence of crowdsourcing and its classifications. I present a scheme of interaction of the participants of a crowdsourcing project in an organization and describe their key roles. In addition, I distinguish the components that make up the effect of using this technology in a company. There are comparisons of performance and effectiveness of crowdsourcing activities and the formulas for estimating resource-intensiveness and resource productivity of crowdsourcing. I identify the indicators to assess the effectiveness of crowdsourcing in an organization.
Methods In this paper, I analyze the effectiveness of using crowdsourcing in a commercial bank and identify the most effective ways to improve the quality of this technology.
Results I present the analysis of crowdsourcing efficiency on the case of JSC Sberbank of Russia. There is a comparison of costs and benefits of using this technology in the bank in 2012. There is a presentation of two crowdsourcing projects' effectiveness, which relate to the bank's documents finalization. These projects demonstrate that the effectiveness of crowdsourcing depends largely on participants' involvement into this process.
Conclusions and Relevance I have studied the experience of using crowdsourcing in a domestic bank and defined the approaches to evaluating the effectiveness of this technology. The materials of the study can serve as a basis for implementing crowdsourcing projects in domestic organizations.
