The article analyzes dynamics of the main macroeconomic indicators of economic development for identification of wave fluctuations, for definition of the periods of growth and recession in economy, and also for the reasons causing recurrence of economic development. On the basis of the Kondratiev theory, the authors consider the dynamics of the USA economic development from 1775 till 2010. They draw a conclusion on existence of structural cycles in economy, the reason of which turned out to be a state monetary policy.

Keywords: long waves, economic growth, inflation, structural cycle
