Verification of model of national competitiveness of M. Porters on the example of BRICS countries

Despite distinctions in understanding of national competitiveness, the attention of economic community is drawn by a contradiction between the gradual growth of labor productivity, quality of life of the population and decreasing level of competitiveness of the Russian economy, recorded in the numerous ratings published by the international economic organizations. In the article the indicators of a level of national competitiveness, quality of life of the population and labor productivity of economy of the countries of BRICS in five-year time interval are compared. The conclusion is drawn that between studied indicators there is no direct dependence; thus is in question one of the fundamental assumptions of modern theory of national competitiveness M. Porter.
