Reducing poverty: analysis and solutions

Poverty scales in the Russian Federation remain an acute social problem, despite economic successes of the last years and the outlined growth of the population income. For the beginning of 2011, 16 % of inhabitants lived below the poverty, or nearly 23 million people. In comparison with 2010 this indicator grew by 2,3 million people. In the article the poverty problems are formulated, the main methods of an assessment, the concept, levels and difficulties of solution of the poverty problem, and also the offered directions of the solution of these problems are presented.
