The characteristics of municipal marketing are presented in the article. It is identified and addressed factors that influence on the formation and development of municipal marketing: International, economic, political, and legal. The classification of municipalities, especially urban development in Russia that determine the relevance of the strategies of the municipal marketing are analyzed.
