The paper presents the results of the research of the genesis of the financial management, it reveals stages of its formantion and development. Particular attention is paid to the characteristics of factors that influenced the alterations in the set of objectives and facilitated the appearance of new paradigms of the financial management, as well as to the description of the approach to the management of investing via shareholder wealth maximization, and to the nature of financial management.
