The article deals with the conceptual views on information technologies as a means of providing competitiveness of modern organizations, states the problem of assessing investment effectiveness in information technologies, gives its structure and studies its essence, shows the difficulties and presents the approaches to solving the stated problem with the regard to the place and significance of information technologies in an objective activity of an organization.
