Special economic zones as points of growth in the economy of regions

The article specifies the role of special economic zones (SEZ) in the process of diversification of regional economy in Russia. Under certain conditions the SEZ can become the points of growth and «open windows» for technologies and investment. The author examines the factors that transform the SEZ into the effective mechanism of redirection of domestic economy from raw-material to innovation way of development.
