Economic-theoretical research meeting the requirements of practice of corporate and government economic management in the opinion of the author of this article could be organized only on the base of wide and uninterrupted use in economic-theoretical research of finished results of other economic sciences (facts, factors, regularities, theories). One of the obstacles on the way of such organization of functioning of economic theory is the traditional idea of the method of economic-theoretical research and the role of economic theory in the system of economic sciences. The article deals with its shortcomings, gives recommendations on their correction.
