Inflation on agricultural products and food stuff as a threat to food security (Based on the materials of the Siberian Federal District and the Krasnoyarsk Krai)
Subject. The article addresses the issues of economic availability of food for the population. Objectives. The purpose is to develop measures to minimize negative effects of inflation and ensure sustainable access of the population to high-quality and affordable food products. Methods. The study employs methods of statistical analysis. Results. Measures to increase the affordability of food should include: regulating food prices and targeting food inflation, ensuring outstripping or commensurate with the rate of inflation growth of incomes of the population, improving the quality and accessibility of food stuff for low-income citizens. Conclusions. Despite the growth of incomes of the population, food inflationary dynamics reduces the level of economic affordability of food products in the Siberian Federal District as a whole and in certain regions of Russia.
