Subject. The article considers the development of mass sports, problems of interaction between sports federations and public authorities. Objectives. The purpose is to analyze processes of organizing and holding sports competitions, develop tools to systematize statistical data related to the field of physical culture and sports. Methods. The study employs the structural analysis. Results. We developed the concept of automatic information system "Competition". The use of this system by sports federations will speed up the process of submitting applications for participation in a sports competition, building the final list of its participants, and preparing documents for the assignment of sports categories. Conclusions. It is crucial to unify the forms of reports on the results of sports competitions, create a single database on sports players and referees.
