In this article considered the technique of comparative assessment of the development level of rural territories which approbation is carried out by the example of rural municipal district of Altai region is considered. During research rural territories are grouped by degrees of typicalness in multivariate sign space; for each area it is determined group of analogues on objective conditions of functioning, the estimation of a degree of backlog or an advancing of development of separate rural territories is based on comparison with which.
