The topic of finances in the works and correspondence of N.V. Gogol

In connection to the 200 year anniversary of N.V. Gogol’s birth, the article uses his works and correspondence as a scientific source for financial studies. It analyses the contents of the Russian state finances in the second quarter of 19 century. It proves that all Gogol’s elements of finances conform to the stipulations of the work “Financia” by a scientist and practitioner E.F. Kankrin. It asserts that N.V. Gogol’s works reflects the state of the Russian territorial finances of that period.
