The author analyses different works dealing with the nature of investment market and gives his own definition thereof both in a narrow and general sense. Furthermore the article deals with particular problems of investment management both federally and regionally. Then the author makes up a list of national investment market players and singles out the main components of the emerging local investment potential in a specific region. Factors influencing investment potential structuring at the regional level are studied as well. The author ends up with the classification of regions of the Central Federal District according to their equity contribution to the fixed capital.
