The article describes the essence, principles of construction of financial mechanism of environmental safety. The analysis of the publications on the effectiveness of the functioning of this mechanism is made. The principally new scientifically sound classification of building a financial mechanism to ensure environmental safety of the state are proposed. The copyright definition of financial mechanism ensuring environmental security is given.
