A crisis reveals concealed inconsistencies and disproportions. We can describe modern downturn as a result of liquidity problems. Still as a matter of fact the situation is much more serious and complicated. The article provides a general idea of financial crisis, economic recession, underlying economic and financial bubbles. Some economic and social consequences of the contemporary downturn are guessed.
