The article presents a group of Russian regions in the clusters formed on the basis of share of manufacturing and mining industries in the gross regional product. The features of the relationship of life expectancy to income levels and quality of social environment throughout the Russian socio-economic system and in these groups of regions are investigated. A statistical evaluation of these relationships in each of the clusters is performed and it’s warranted that the laws have been identified for the entire Russian socio-economic system are not universal and cannot be generalized to each regional cluster.

Subject This article analyzes the contribution of the regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East to the innovation capacity of the Russian Federation's economy.
Objectives The article aims to determine the positions of the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts in the system of innovation potential capacity of the Russian Federation and rank the eastern regions of Russia by innovation activity.
Methods For the study, I used a statistical validity method.
Results Based on the component analysis of the availability of general economic infrastructure, the article ranks the regions of the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts.
Conclusions and Relevance With a small number of enterprises engaged in innovation, money spent for this purpose and the lowest volumes of innovation output in the country, the regions most remote from the European part of Russia have a significant overall innovation potential capacity. The results of the study can be used to form an inter-regional platform for the exchange of experience and knowledge, make government decisions aimed at accelerating the innovative development of the eastern regions of the Russian Federation and adjusting to national and regional economic development programmes over the long term.

Subject The article addresses the issues of transport support to infrastructure and economic development of Russia's southern regions, the Krasnodar Krai in particular.
Objectives The focus is on the influence of various factors on economic stability of transport organizations operating in Russia's mountainous regions.
Methods I employ the multivariate statistical analysis, and the method of studying the canonical correlation between blocks of variables as its tool. The variables include gross regional product, volume and structure of investments, cost and depreciation of property, plant and equipment of transport enterprises.
Results I present a list of indicators that have an impact on losses of enterprises operating in the automotive industry of the Krasnodar Krai. The paper provides a statistical justification that none of the factors published by the Federal State Statistics Service shows a strong relationship between the loss ratio of transport companies and external factors. The most significant factor that affects indirectly their being loss-making is the amount of budget funds provided for the industry development.
Conclusions The improvement of internal system of accounting and control of material resources, management quality and innovation in the automotive industry of the Krasnodar Krai will contribute to economic security of Russia's mountainous areas, rather than the volume of State support.
