Subject The article addresses the supranational form of economic development.
Objectives We focus on assessing potential and identifying opportunities for supranational form of the Russian economy development with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States and developed countries.
Methods The study draws on the systems approach, using the methods of descriptive statistics, cluster and neural network analysis.
Results We identify Russia as an object of the analysis of potential for supranational form of economic development, and the Commonwealth of Independent States and developed countries – as a supranational level. When determining significant clusters of symbiosis of Russian and the CIS economies, we identify a potentially stable cluster with Kazakhstan. As for developed countries, Russia forms a stable cluster with Ireland. The main impediment to active supranational development of the Russian economy is an unacceptable level of exchange rate difference of the national currency and the inflation.
Conclusions As a way to face an impending recession, the supranational form of Russian economy development is not a priority, given that it can stabilize only nominal GDP, and only in partnership with Kazakhstan.
