Remote banking services in Russia: status and trends

Remote banking services are the basic model of the banking sector in developed countries during more than 20 years. Nowadays there is a noticeable lag from foreign commercial banks in the management of innovation processes in Russia, that will inevitably lead to a significant weakening of domestic banks to compete on the international financial market. To avoid this situation some steps should be taken to improve the efficiency of innovation activity of Russian credit organizations, otherwise the banking system will inevitably face serious challenges. This requires analysis and evaluation of the use of modern banking systems in commercial banks of the Russian Federation. These kinds of problems are considered in the author’s article.

The need of formation and maintenance of internal competition among trading houses and supply units of the holding companies for purchase orders required inventory are justified in the article. It is presented the algorithm for determining of the position of the inventory, procurement which should be centralized or decentralized. A list of indicators for assessing the efficiency of procurement is clarified and supplemented.

In this article the analysis of medium-term trends in the main demographic rates on the city of Volgograd is presented. This rates are births, deaths, natural increase, migration, population size and sex-age structure. It is revealed how long-term variations in birth rate over the last 60-70 years are related with the consequences of World War II and the USSR demographic policy of the 80 years in twentieth century. The demographic situation decline in the city of Volgograd in the coming decade is predicted.

The approach to manage the investment attractiveness of projects pointed at company-town diversification is substantiated in the article. The project selection is suggested to carry out taking into account the interests of the company-town community and the potential investor. For this purpose the criteria of project selection and evaluation, and requirements for mechanism to manage the investments attractiveness of a company-town as well as a project are formed.

In the article the question of an assessment of efficiency of separate state and municipal orders, and also systems of placement of the state orders as a whole is considered. The system of indicators of an assessment of efficiency of placement of the state and municipal orders, allowing to estimate not only the extent of economy of an expenditure of budgetary funds, but also system effectiveness of purchases is offered. The question of realization of efficiency of placement of the state and municipal contracts in federal contract system is considered.


A statistical model of after-marriage-is-over behavior in contemporary Russia: Evidence from the Volgograd Oblast

Importance The article presents some results of the research into the remarriage market and individual strategies of after-divorce behavior in contemporary Russia.
     Objectives The research examines the existing trends in the remarriage market and identifies typical forms of behavior after divorce.
     Methods I made a representative sample and surveyed citizens of Volgograd and several districts of the Volgograd oblast who used to be officially married. Primary data were processed with specialized computer-assisted software, using methods of descriptive statistics, cross tables, and classical correlation and factor analysis.
     Results I obtained information on what factors made demographically active population choose a specific after-divorce strategy in contemporary Russia.
     Conclusions and Relevance Divorce in Russia is more often than not a voluntary decision of both spouses, which they regard as one of possible scenarios for marital and family relations, without excluding a new marriage. Children are not the reason for terminating the existing marriage and entering a new one. Gender, age, after-divorce period are key factors influencing the choice of the after-divorce strategy, with the educational level being another aspect that is important for the men's strategy.

Importance The article discusses the remarriage market and individual strategies for matrimonial behavior of people in contemporary Russia.
Objectives The article aims to study trends on the remarriage market and identify common forms of matrimonial behavior.
Methods We held a mass questionnaire survey on a representative sample of residents of Volgograd and several districts of the Volgograd oblast, who had experienced marriage dissolution and had not, to determine whether they had common strategies for marriage selection and some main trends in marital behavior. We used certain specialized software and the methods of descriptive statistics, crosstables, etc. to process the primary data.
Results We present certain data on the factors in choosing a particular strategy of marriage behavior among demographically active population of contemporary Russia.
Conclusions In modern Russia, the divorce is often a voluntary choice of both spouses, considered as one of equiprobable options for the development of the marriage and family relations. This indicates the formation of a culture of divorce in Russia, so far being more typical of Western Europe and the United States.


A Conceptual framework for evaluating the competitiveness of mobile network operators

Subject This paper considers the economic relations of mobile communication operators in terms of competitiveness assessment taking into account modern requirements of functioning and development of competitive market.
Objectives The paper aims to analyze the market situation, approaches to the assessment of competitiveness and methods of determining the performance of mobile network operators, as well as form a single evaluation model.
Methods For the study, we used the methods of analysis and synthesis, abstraction and generalization, an economic analysis, and the statistical methods.
Results The paper highlights the factors influencing the competitiveness of mobile network operators and presents developed original methodological tools for assessing their competitive ability. Also, the article offers methodological provisions on management of qualitative indicators that characterize mobile communication services in the conditions of the regional market.
Conclusions and Relevance Influence of factors helps define competitive status and perspective directions for evaluation of the competitiveness of mobile communication services. These studies will be useful for mobile network operators in assessing competitiveness and developing effective marketing strategies.


Feasibility of investment in Russia's young human capital: employers' sentiment

Importance The article presents some results of the research into feasibility of investment in Russia's young human resources. This aspect is important as all parties to the investment process, i.e. from households to the State, happen to unreasonable invest financial and other resources into Russia's young human capital.
Objectives We examined the real economic efficiency of investment in Russia's young human capital.
Methods We conducted in-depth interviews with executives in the Volgograd oblast. This primary data collection method helped identify deep and concealed motivation for investment in young human capital, which such conventional methods as completion of questionnaires fail to provide.
Results We obtained reliable and substantial results, which describe the feasibility of entities' investment in modern Russia's young human capital.
Conclusions and Relevance Large companies' investment in human capital under 30 are definitely beneficial for the investing company itself, thus improving the personnel's motivation, psychological climate, and productivity growth. However, the effect is short-term, requiring new young employees and new investment.


A statistical model of dependence of income on educational level in modern-day Russia

Subject This article discusses the issues related to the effectiveness of investment in the human capital of modern-day Russian young people.
Objectives The article aims to compare educational levels and incomes of representatives of the economically active population of the Volgograd Oblast.
Methods The study is based on a mass sociological survey of a representative sample and subsequent statistical analysis of the primary and categorized data.
Results The article reveals a weak but statistically valid positive correlation between income and educational level, which is independently manifested in almost all groups of economically active population.
Conclusions Investments in higher education by young people in modern-day Russia are too long payback periods and do not guarantee an increase in income in the future. The level of education has some influence on incomes of the working population of the region, but it is not possible to estimate the economic effect of such influence. The economic feasibility of significant investments in higher education by an overwhelming majority of modern Russian youth remains unproven. The results obtained can be used when forming a regional social and economic policy, in particular in the sphere of education, labor, and prudent management of human capital.
