Subject. The role of digitalization of the economy in meeting the various needs of individuals and social groups.
Objectives. Classification of Russian regions depending on the degree of realization of the economy's digital potential. Development of recommendations for choosing a digital development strategy for the region.
Methods. Methods of regression, factor analysis, grouping, and generalization were applied.
Results. It has been established that the level of use of information and communication technologies in the economy and social sphere affects the per capita income of the population. Most regions with a large volume of digital resources and a high level of digital demand are located in the European part of the country.
Conclusions. The results of the study may be taken into account when developing strategies for enhancing the digital potential of the economy of a specific region of Russia.
