Subject. This article discusses the issues of improving the competitiveness of regions, innovative development, and labor productivity growth.
Objectives. The article aims to identify key factors determining the formation and development of high-productivity jobs, and analyze regional disparities and their consequences for the socioeconomic development of areas.
Methods. For the study, we used a fixed-effects panel regression model and a cluster analysis.
Results. The article finds that the level of digitalization has the greatest impact on the growth of high-productivity jobs, while investments in fixed capital have a moderate impact. Various crisis phenomena had a negative effect on the formation of high-productivity jobs, in underdeveloped regions especially.
Conclusions. High-productivity job growth requires a differentiated approach to employment.

Keywords: high-productivity job, spatial distribution, digitalization, investments, panel regression, cluster analysis
