Subject. This article discusses the issues of Russian regions' development in the context of increasing global challenges. Objectives. The article aims to analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the main scientific approaches to the Regional Economic System Stability concept treatment. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of systems, comparative, and factor analyses, as well as expert assessment, and visualization. Results. The article systematizes scientific approaches to the Regional Economic System Stability concept treatment, identifies the concept evolution stages, and classifies factors determining the stability of the regional economic system. Conclusions. At the present stage, the Regional Economic System Stability concept is considered in the context of proactive adaptation to changes in the internal and external environment.
