Subject. This article discusses the importance of the construction industry in ensuring sustainable economic development of the region. Objectives. The article aims to determine the impact of compliance with environmental requirements in residential construction on the socioeconomic indicators of the region. Methods. For the study, I used a correlation analysis. Results. Based on the analysis of the indicators of electricity and thermal energy consumption efficiency, the article identifies the influence of green construction on certain indicators of socioeconomic development in the Leningrad Oblast. It finds that the housing sector stands for the priority area for the development of green construction. The article also finds that improving the energy efficiency of buildings has a positive impact on the socioeconomic indicators of the region and the well-being of the population. Conclusions. Adherence to the principles of green construction should be systematic, which requires inter-agency and inter-sectoral cooperation of socioeconomic policy stakeholders.
