Regional factors in the development of small high-tech enterprises: Evidence from the Samara Oblast

Subject. This article discusses the importance of small enterprises in linking the economic space and smoothing out territorial disparities, and the impact of socioeconomic factors on the development of small enterprises in the high-tech sector.
Objectives. The article aims to identify and interpret the key interconnections determining the changes in the percentage of small enterprises related to high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries in the gross regional product of the Samara Oblast.
Methods. For the study, I used the general scientific research methods and correlation and regression analysis.
Results. The article identifies and describes the most significant factors affecting the activities of small enterprises in high-tech and knowledge-intensive industries.
Conclusions. Regional economic policy should take into account factors that have a positive impact on the development of high-tech small enterprises, which will help realize their spatial potential.
