Subject. This article discusses the issues of development of domestic tourism and the transportation system within the framework of the St. Petersburg agglomeration.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the dependence of digitalization on economic development and urbanization, and develop a concept of digital service for the transportation system of the St. Petersburg agglomeration.
Methods. For the study, we used correlation, regression, and comparative analyses, as well as the decision tree technique.
Results. The article finds that there is a relationship between the digitalization and urbanization in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast. Digitalization affects the gross regional product of the regions positively, therefore, it is recommended to create a digital transport service within the St. Petersburg agglomeration. The decision tree analysis shows that project financing is the most significant alternative within the framework of interregional cooperation.
Conclusions. To enhance the tourist attractiveness of the St. Petersburg agglomeration, it is necessary to create a digital service (including a mobile application) for residents and visitors to the regions based on the Mobility as a Service principle. Using this digital service will help realize the tourist potential of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Oblast.
