Subject. This article analyzes the construction of economic relations reflecting the development of systemic ideas about the economy of the region and single-industry towns.
Objectives. The article aims to analyze the relationship between the structures of the economies of the region and a single-industry town, highlighting its temporal and spatial characteristics.
Methods. For the study, we used the systems and holistic approaches, and logical and schematic modeling.
Results. The article proposes a variant of structuring the economic space of cooperation between the region and a single-industry town and constructs an orthogonal matrix, which can help obtain reliable (representative) information about the indicators of the qualitative state of the system as a whole or its subsystems.
Conclusions. On the basis of the theory of graphs and basic resources (space and time), further development of the concept of single-industry town as an economic system is possible.
