Objectives. The article aims to conduct a comprehensive original study of the problems of development of the regions of Siberia and the Russian Far East and develop a qualitatively new approach to the integral rating of regions.

Results. The article finds that the economic potential of Siberia and the Russian Far East is not fully realized, and it shows the values of some economic indicators for a number of regions that are lower than the average values for Russia.

At the federal level, it is necessary to develop and approve the Strategy for the Spatial Development of Russia until 2050, create the Federal Agency for the Development of Siberia and the Far East of Russia.
