Importance The article deals with the problems of production and intellectual inputs efficiency enhancement using lean production tools.
Objectives The aim of the paper is to examine the possibility of enhancing the efficient use of productive resources and performance of business units using the tools of operations management (lean manufacturing).
Methods For the research, I used the methods of supervision, statistical processing of data management, and tools of lean manufacturing.
Results The research resulted in an action plan to address the problem. I identified the key hot buttons in management of the enterprise: overproduction, waiting, extra transportation and movement, excessive or incorrect handling, delays and inefficient use of capital assets, defects, untapped creative potential of employees, as well as the lack of quality tools required to bring the product to completion.
Conclusions I conclude that only the expedient, efficient use of inputs based on effective utilization of the intellectual part of the productive resources of the enterprise, shall allow for minimal losses of productive time, resources, eliminate rush mode and, as a consequence, lead to solving the tasks. The results of the research may be useful in economic decision-making of various regional problems.
