In the article the questions of use of renewables in the Russian Federation are considered, the experience of the international cooperation on these questions is noted, the changes in the standard and legal base regulating development of alternative power are given. The assessment of possibility of use of renewables in the territory of the Komi Republic on the basis of the production and electricity consumption analysis, and taking into account available potential for bio-energetics development is given.
