In the article the role of frontier position of the region in ensuring its social and economic development on an example of the Pskov area, and the municipalities entering into its structure and located on border with the European Union is considered. The problems interfering the organization of frontier cooperation in the region are presented. Concrete forms of use of frontier position of municipalities as a resource of their development are allocated.
