This article assesses the current state of world coal trade, the role and importance of coal in global energy. Influence of technological decisions on economic indicators is considered by gross and selective development of complex structure layers of the Elginsky coal field. It is noted that the use of selective development compared to the gross to reduce the ash content of coal seams, which improves the quality characteristics of commercial products.
