Difficulties of formation of the research economic institute first in the north of Russia and its scientific achievements at various stages of social and economic development of one of large subjects of the Russian Federation - the Republics of Sakha (Yakutia) are analyzed. Objective need, urgency and the high importance of scientific economic researches in the conditions of the North are revealed.
