Subject. This article focuses on the problem of compensating for socioeconomic costs arising from the introduction of environmental restrictions.
Objectives. The study aims to analyze existing compensation mechanisms and justify an integrated approach to their development and application to ensure social justice and long-term sustainable development.
Methods. For the study, I used the methods of systematizing scientific literature on the economics of natural resource use, ecological economics, and political ecology.
Results. The article identifies and characterizes key compensation instruments. It also determines the advantages and disadvantages of various approaches.
Conclusions. An effective compensation policy should strategically combine different mechanisms adapted to the local context, creating positive incentives for community participation in the activities. The results of the study can be helpful for government authorities when forming and implementing environmental and socio-economic policies aimed at ensuring ecological safety and a just transition.
