Subject. This article discusses institutional mechanisms for resolving ecological and economic contradictions in Russian agro-industrial complex in the sustainable development goals context.
Objectives. The study aims to identify ways to form a green economy adaptive model in the Russian agro-industrial complex, taking into account regional specifics and contradictions of the global sustainable development agenda.
Methods. For the study, we used general scientific methods (theoretical analysis, logical and analytical approaches), the institutional approach, strategic and comparative analyses, and graphical methods for visualizing structural interconnections.
Results. The article reveals the terminological vagueness of the green economy key concepts, and proposes a hierarchical structure of the conceptual field. It also develops a multi-level scheme for integrating the activities of the agro-industrial complex with the sustainable development goals.
Conclusions. The authorities can use the research findings for the agro-industrial complex sustainable development and the formation of institutional support for green transformations. The conclusions emphasize the importance of targeted institutional reforms to achieve synergy between environmental safety, social well-being, and economic efficiency.

Keywords: Agro-industrial complex, green economy, SDGs, institutional mechanisms, ecological-economic contradictions
