Subject. This article discusses diagnostics and optimization of the throughput capacity of the Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port.
Objectives. The study aims to adapt the apparatus of a multi-channel queueing system for diagnosing the infrastructure overload and improving the efficiency of the Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port.
Methods. For the study, we used canonical model of a multi-channel queueing system with waiting (M/M/n) in a stationary mode.
Results. The article identifies a critical overload of the Port, and reveals that Scenario 1 provides the maximum effect, while Scenario 2 reduces waiting time by 33%.
Conclusions. The theory of queuing systems is an effective tool for diagnosing port infrastructure. The Makhachkala Sea Commercial Port is overloaded, but the situation allows for correction through managerial decisions without immediate capacity expansion. Implementing the proposed scenarios will increase the competitiveness of the Port and the North–South Transport Corridor in global logistics markets.
