Subject. This article discusses the features of agglomeration processes in the Northwestern Federal District regions. Objectives. The article aims to identify current trends in agglomeration processes of the Northwestern Federal District regions. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of theoretical generalization and comparison, synthesis and analysis, graphical method, and the localization coefficient calculation. Results. The article defines the Northwestern Federal District regions where agglomeration processes occur with varying degrees of intensity. Conclusions. When developing spatial development strategies, it is important to take into account the trends and effectiveness of ongoing agglomeration processes. It is also necessary to forecast the emergence of new processes that may have both positive and negative effects on the socioeconomic condition of the Russian Federation subjects.
