Subject. This article discusses systemic changes that occurred during the radical shift in the techno-economic paradigm. Objectives. The article aims to explore the risks of digital transformation for the Russian economy under the global capitalist system restructuring. Methods. For the study, I used general scientific and specialized methods – logical, hypothetico-deductive, and the method of data analysis and synthesis. Results. The article justifies that digital transformation represents a conceptual basis for changing the socioeconomic formation. It also examines the impact of digital transformation on the change of socioeconomic relations, and highlights the main risk trends and effects of digital transformation. Conclusions. Bio-digital convergence will amplify the effect of the subject-object metamorphosis, turning individuals, economic agents, and national economic systems from subjects into objects, data, and a factor of capitalization for the transnational sector. Concentrating resources on achieving digital leadership does not lift the economy out of cyclical development, which will manifest in new forms of crises and economic crimes.
