Subject. This article focuses on the current environmental policies of Western countries against Russian aluminum.
Objectives. The article aims to propose a reconsideration of development approaches in a multipolar world.
Methods. For the study, I used the methods of retrospective analysis and the analysis of the aluminum carbon footprint from different regions.
Results. The article justifies the need to integrate environmental criteria into geopolitical strategies and to create mechanisms for assessing the carbon footprint of raw materials regardless of geographical and political factors.
