Subject. This article focuses on problems of low-quality imported fruit and vegetable products.
Objectives. The article aims to investigate the quality issues of imported vegetables and fruits and the impact of substandard fruit and vegetable products on the population health of Russia.
Methods. For the study, we used economic and mathematical research methods.
Results. The article reveals that the main problems leading to the quality of fruit and vegetable products decrease are related to exceeding the allowable concentration of nitrates and pesticides. The consumption of such products can lead to deterioration of public health and a decrease in life expectancy.
Conclusions. It is necessary to increase domestic production of vegetables and fruits with appropriate quality control to significantly reduce the import of substandard products.
