Subject. This article discusses the issues of modernization of the Russian economy and the role of digital technologies in improving the quality of life. Objectives. The article aims to assess the level of development of information infrastructure in the regions of Russia. Methods. For the study, I used the methods of comparative, multivariate, and hierarchy analyses. Results. The article finds that the level of development of the digital economy varies greatly across the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. The article also reveals a trend towards an increase in the use of the Internet by pensioners in all the macro-regions studied. Conclusions. The development of the information infrastructure of the digital economy should remain a priority of the State's economic policy.
