Subject. We examine gender effects in terms of corporate performance. The article focuses on the impact of gender on managerial decisions a person makes, activities and position at the microlevel.
Objectives. We evaluate how gender factor influences management processes. The article also discusses distinctions of male and female management in the Russian economy.
Methods. The study involves methods of analysis, comparison, questionnaire survey, analytical methods. We analyzed what qualities influence the corporate governance in the case of male or female genders.
Results. The article traces the dependence of the manager’s gender and managerial decisions. We demonstrate how the effectiveness of corporate management depends on personal qualities of the staff, including gender-related factors. Having analyzed the management in the context of different genders, with a special focus put on female management, we pinpointed the need to raise the gender-related agenda for managers so as to create a more productive and favorable atmosphere and improve the overall performance. The article displays the socio-economic inequality of men and women in Russia.
Conclusions and Relevance. In Russia, gender factors obviously influence the style and methods of management. People demonstrate a different gender identity no matter what gender they pertain to. It is reasonable to conduct the gender analysis of corporate staff, refine the male-female ratio in the entity, thus eliminating the gender inequality and overcoming the gender-related bias. More women should be hired for managerial positions to ensure more successful and socio-oriented operations of entities.
