Subject The study examines the public health quality in Russia and Germany.
Objectives The study aims to assess the public health quality in Russia and Germany through the Global Burden of Disease Study methodology. I also determine challenging aspects and possible solutions, referring to the German expertise.
Methods The study is based on the methodology of the Global Burden of Disease Study, which relies upon DALY resulting from two metrics YLL and YLD.
Results I identified key causes of DALY lost and triggers of various diseases in Russia and Germany. Germany's DALY is estimated to be much lower than those in Russia. The situations results from the elaborated medical and demographic policy, which Russia can adopt for preventative purposes, reinforcing the system of public healthcare and health improvement.
Conclusions and Relevance Public health improvement efforts, which Germany effectively takes, can become a good guidance for Russia. The proposed method of analysis and Global Burden of Disease Study proved to be effective. They can help quantify and evaluate the public health quality. The findings can serve for developing a public health improvement program of Russia and underlie further research.
