The factors causing importance of regional economic policy in the developed countries of the world are researched in the article. Components of regional policy in the developed countries are defined. The basic features of regional policy in the developed countries are analyzed. The basic stages of development of a regional policy in the European countries are revealed. In article the author's variant of classification of tools of a regional policy is given.
