Subject. This article discusses the issues of fiscal sustainability of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Objectives. The article aims to improve the methodology for assessing the fiscal sustainability of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and test it using the data of these constituent entities. Methods. For the study, I used analytical, statistical, and comparative analyses. Results. Based on the original methodology, the article assesses the fiscal sustainability of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, this helps determine the degree of differentiation of the level of fiscal sustainability of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and their ability to ensure the fulfillment of budgetary obligations in the context of the negative influence of external environmental factors. Relevance. The proposed methodology can be used to assess the financial condition of public-law entities making informed management decisions when developing and implementing budget policy and State and municipal programmes of socioeconomic development.
