Subject. This article analyzes the complex reform processes taking place in the field of investment activities of Russian banks. Objectives. The article aims to study the current challenges and problems of the development of investment activities of banks, and develop proposals for various areas of activation of banks. Methods. For the study, I used a comprehensive approach, systems, case study, comparative, and economic and statistical analyses. Results. The article describes the main problems that banks solve in the context of sanctions restrictions, the participation of the State in the regulation of banking activities and presents the main areas for improving the investment activities of banks. Conclusions and Relevance. Foreign banks take a special place in the Russian banking system and give it greater financial stability and investment attractiveness. After the current correction of the banking sector and taking into account the new architecture of international relations that is being built, the banks that remain in the Russian market will acquire new and more competitive parameters, due to which they will strengthen their investment positions in the world. The results of the study can help formulate practical recommendations for improving the investment climate and stimulating the development of investment activities of banks.
