Subject. This article considers economic and financial activities as a system process in space and time. Objectives. The article aims to reveal the fragmentary nature of the traditional idea of economic and financial activities as a consequence of the discrepancy with the general scientific principle of the continuity of space and time. Methods. For the study, I used a systems approach. Results. On the basis of the representation of the process of activity as a system that includes not only a material, but a virtual element as well, the article reveals the contradiction between its traditional representation and the general scientific principle of continuity. The proposed approach focuses on the process of economic and financial activity of a person as a designer of his future, his ability to cognitive activity and eliminates fragmentation in the traditional view of the economy, which violates the general scientific principle of continuity of space and time. Conclusions. The proposed systems view of economic and financial activities, and in general of any human activity, has scientific and practical significance both in terms of the development of economic theory and the expansion of the tools of scientific research to the interdisciplinary level. A systems view of economic activity will require a change in approaches to the temporary assessment of labor efficiency and will help change the criteria for classifying physical and mental labor.
