Subject. This article examines the theoretical and methodological aspects of regulation of the financial capital market, the conditions and parameters of its functioning. Objectives. The article aims to determine the conditions, trends of institutional regulation and indicators characterizing the development of the Russian financial market. Methods. For the study, I used comparative analysis, as well as analysis, systematization and economic and mathematical modeling. Results. The article highlights the stages of evolution of regulation of the financial capital market, describes the distinctive features of the Russian financial capital market, systematizes the main indicators that directly or indirectly characterize the state of the Russian financial capital market, and presents their mathematical description. Relevance. The results of the study may be of interest to financial analysts, government agencies when designing strategies and programmes for the development of the financial capital market in terms of substantiating indicators for monitoring its development and the quality of institutional regulation.
