Importance This article examines the state of the labor market through the prism of economic security.
Objectives The article's purpose is to assess the regional labor market through the prism of economic security indicators.
Methods The methodological basis of the research is a combination of historical and logical unities, methods of structural and functional analyses, and specific methods of assessment.
Results We systematize our approaches to the interpretation of the concept of labor market. The article identifies factors that have a positive impact on the regional labor market. The article shows the changes in the labor force and economically active population in the Russian Federation, Volga Federal District, and the Republic of Mordovia.
Conclusions and Relevance The labor market of the Republic of Mordovia requires strengthening the role of the executive authorities at maintaining employment. The results of the study can be used when developing programs and strategies of social-economic growth.
