Importance The urgency of the research in commercial banks' personnel policy is underpinned by the need to improve bank management and the influence of the quality of personnel on operations of credit organizations. Banking personnel deficiency is particularly severe in the North Caucasian Federal District.
Objectives The study aims to review main trends in training, retraining and advanced training of commercial banks' personnel.
Results We formulate the idea of the levels of training of qualified bank personnel, identify the interest of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in the training of highly qualified personnel of various specialties, which defines the need for developing the third level of training, namely, research. The latter should contribute to the introduction of scientific developments to credit institutions' activities and facilitate their sustainable development.
Conclusions The analysis shows that banking personnel deficiency is particularly relevant in the North Caucasian Federal District. This re-emphasizes the potential of economic universities that train specialists majoring in finance and credit.
